Besides offering classes to members, MGMS members help educate our community in the following ways:
- Instruct Pebble Pups Class “Geology 001″ at the Midland Community College’s annual summer event, “Kids’ College.”
- Visit schools during Earth Science Week and other occasions to introduce students to the love of geology
- Visit and present programs to various Youth and Civic groups (ie: Girl Scout troops, Boy Scout troops, Casa de Amigos) on a variety of geology, rock and gem topics
- Annual scholarships are presented to local graduating high school seniors each year
- Educational presentations are given at our monthly General Meetings
