What is lapidary?

Definition of LAPIDARY – 
a cutter, polisher, or engraver of precious stones usually other than diamonds

In this class, students (membership in MGMS is required) will learn the basics of cutting cabochons, including selecting rough, slabbing, trimming, shaping & polishing cabochons, equipment safety, techniques for creating domes, and cleaning up. Students will also become familiar with all shop rules, lapidary equipment use and care. All material needed for class is supplied by MGMS and included in class fee of $75.00.

Upon completion of this class, students may pay shop dues of $15/yr and use all shop equipment gone over in class. Students will  also have the ability to take Faceting, Intarsia and Silversmithing classes.
