Wirewrapping

Definition of WIREWRAPPING
the art of securing cabochons and cut gems, by wrapping and twisting precious metal wire with no soldering or heating of the wire, into jewelry. Wirewrapping is one of the oldest techniques for making  jewelry by hand.

In this class, students will learn basic wirewrapping techniques to assemble a cross, a bracelet, a pendant, and, if time allows, a student choice project . Best types of wire to use and tools needed will also be covered.  All materials and tools needed for class are supplied by MGMS and included in class fee.

Students are welcome and encouraged to bring and use cabochons made in their Lapidary class for their wirewrapping projects.
