In November 2015, MGMS received a donation from a family in Iraan. Several members traveled down to collect 2 truckloads and a trailer full of rocks collected over a lifetime. We found many incredible specimens including plume agate, biscuits, picture jasper, obsidian, fossils, and more! After we loaded up the collection, we took a detour on the way home. We stopped at a road cut on I-10 where we found shells and spines of some ancient sea creature.

The rocks surrounding the memorial were owned by the family that made the donation.
