Education

Besides offering classes to members, MGMS members help educate our community in the following ways:

  • Instruct Pebble Pups Class “Geology 001” at the Midland Community College’s annual summer event, “Kids’ College.”

  • Visit schools during Earth Science Week and other occasions to introduce students to the love of geology

  • Visit and present programs to various Youth and Civic groups (ie: Girl Scout troops, Boy Scout troops,

    Casa de Amigos) on a variety of geology, rock and gem topics

  • Annual scholarships are presented to local graduating high school seniors each year
