Notice to Members

It is imperative that invitations to be a part of our annual show be extended solely by the show chair!  This means invitations to all vendors, special exhibitors, other non-profit organizations, and certainly other for-profit parties.  On more than one occasion, MGMS members, with all best intentions, have extended a (verbal) invitation to vendors or other providers they met at other shows (or similar venues) to participate in our fall show.  It has been awkward and/or embarrassing for MGMS and for these “surprise” vendors when they arrived only to learn that they were not expected by the show chair and space for them had not been provided in the floorplan.  Yes, our show chairs have sometimes managed to accommodate these folks, but it has nver been a good situation.  It’s just not a good way to do business!

When people show up unplanned, it may well result in hurt feelings, unnecessary expense (for them), and damage to MGMS’ good and valued reputation.  So… Please continue to spot vendors and special displays that might add to our show, but gather information and pass it along to one of our show chairs, Tom Wurster or Bill Halepeska.  The show chair is the final judge on what vendors are needed and how much space is available for each vendor and display.  Moreover, the show chair issues contracts to all vendors, and nobody should arrive in Midland to participate in our show without being under such (written) contract.

Thanks to all MGMS members for your understanding and support in this matter.
